Chamber Proudly Offering Online Training in Support of Safe, Diverse, and Respectful Workplaces and Organizations
(Haliburton – October 30, 2020) – The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new service offering to the membership and the community at-large – affordable online training designed to promote safe, respectful and inclusive workplaces and organizations.
Occupational health and safety have never been more important as topics of concern, as business and organizations have implemented safety protocols around COVID-19 as they work hard to keep their employees, customers and volunteers safe. Through this new program offered by the Chamber, enterprises across the Haliburton Highlands can access basic safety training at a low cost, including:
- General WHMIS,
- Personal Protective Equipment Awareness,
- Fire Safety, and
- COVID-19: General Canadian Workplace Safety.
Healthy workplaces start with the company culture, and respect, inclusion, and diversity are necessary components of a socially healthy company culture. These components can increase profitability, help companies innovate, and retain employees. To this end, the Chamber has made key training programs available to community that will meet these needs of local enterprises including:
- LGBT+ Diversity and Inclusion Training for Workplaces (endorsed by the Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce),
- Diversity and Inclusion Training for Volunteer Organizations,
- Canadian Indigenous Culture Training (Endorsed by the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute of Canada), and
- Unconscious Bias in the Workplace.
“The Board recognized this as a need in our community, based on current events” said Andrea Strano, President of the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce. “We are very excited to share these resources, and are pleased that it provides an additional way for our members to derive value from their membership through the members-only discount.”
Chamber members get access to a 25% discount on the training, which has been priced in an affordable way. Participants get a Chamber-branded certificate for their files upon successful completion of each course. Additional discounts can be arranged for high-volume employers.
