A week ago, on November 28, 2019, 110 women from across the Haliburton Highlands came together to connect, to enjoy a delicious meal and to hear from professional speaker Sharon Campbell-Rayment at the First Annual Inspiring Women’s Luncheon.

Sharon was truly amazing, and we are so grateful that she took some time to share her experiences and expertise with us on how to be more present and effective despite life’s challenges. Thank you to Sharon for her time and effort, please support her by following her social media and YouTube Channel.

Now that we have had a chance to catch our breath, we thought it was time to provide our own perspective on the highlights of that wonderful day.

The beauty of this event was that it was one that was driven by the community, and this is a great example of why we #BuyCloseBy  in the #MyHaliburtonHighlands and support our local enterprises! We had press coverage in the Haliburton Echo, along with coverage via each of our community media partners – our weekly Chamber Strip in the Highlander, and our weekly Chamber Chats on Moose FM and Canoe FM. When we were envisioning this event, we were hoping for 50 to 100 women to join us. Instead, the community took over, and our tickets were sold out a week before the event. It was bigger than we imagined, and we are so excited at the level of community uptake!

We also received tremendous support from our local enterprises and women from across

the community. First of all, Elegant Events was gracious enough to donate their resources and time to decorating the event and the space looked absolutely stunning (See their post about it here). What was truly amazing was that Alexandra and Elaine recruited a team of their family and friends to make sure that the event was set up in time for us – that meant everyone starting at 7:00 that morning! We are so thankful for all of their hard work, and we know that this event will be a standout in the minds of our guests because of it.

The PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise was the title sponsor of the First Annual Inspiring Women’s Luncheon

The PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise also stepped up to support the event, providing each and every attendee with a cranberry ginger ale mocktail when they walked in. The PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise can help local entrepreneurs by providing access to financing (in partnership with HCDC), peer mentorship circles, and more. Terry Carr Moving the Highlands also partnered on the event, as she recognized the importance of a women’s networking group in the Haliburton Highlands. We are so grateful for the support.

We also had an overwhelming and wonderful response by our Chamber members and

women from the broader community as we had over $2500 worth of merchandise, services, and gifts donated for the silent auction at the event. Please accept our gratitude to our donors for helping to make this event a smashing success!
