Chamber 1st Vice President Andrea Strano to Step into President Role at HHCC
HALIBURTON, ON, October 31, 2018 For Immediate Release – The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce (HHCC) is undergoing strategic changes in its Board of Directors with Andrea Strano, First Vice President stepping into the President Role. Richard Wannan has been President of the organization for 18 months, and says he is leaving to focus on his prior business commitments.
Wannan has provided leadership through transformative changes at the HHCC, including strategic media presence and communication; tremendous membership growth; the launch of the workforce development video project to encourage people to move to the area; and the launch of the #buycloseby project to encourage the community to keep their dollars local. He is credited with positioning the organization as a leader in Central Ontario for value-added programs for members.
“The initiatives we have been working on have hit a good stage”, Wannan says. The change to the executive leadership team was ratified at the October meeting of the Board of Directors. “I am staying on as Past-President, which means that I will continue to serve in an advisory role. I know that Andrea, with her thoughtful leadership and energy will continue the forward momentum at the Chamber.”
Strano has been a member of the HHCC since June 2013, has been acting in a leadership capacity on several committees and projects, and has been serving as First Vice President since June. Her dedication to the HHCC, solid foundation with HHCC programs, and connection to the business community make her an ideal candidate to serve as the President of the Board of Directors.
“The Chamber has been around since 1936, and I believe it is an integral component of our business community – I am so proud to be able to serve in this role.”, Strano says, “I am looking forward to a wonderful year ahead, and I will work hard to further enhance our programs in support of our members”.
